KS3 winner from The Bridge – Havering Young Artist of the Year 2019

On Thursday 10th October Year 10 attended the Private View of Havering Young Artist of the Year 2019 at the new Appleby Gallery at Frances Bardsley Academy in the company of the Lord Mayor of Havering.

Year 9’s clay busts made last year had been selected to represent artwork from The Bridge along with the work of Haz and Joe, two GCSE students from last year, and Hannah who submitted her Year 10 exam piece. The clay busts were displayed along the window sill in a group which showed them at their best as they were made as a ‘family group’.

We were so pleased to learn that Chance’s model, called Michael, gained second prize in the KS3 category with the judges commenting on its simplicity and refined form.  Congratulations to Chance and to all the entrants whose work looked amazing in this gallery setting. The exhibition continues until November 1st and can be viewed by contacting Lisa, the curator, on 01708 447368 ext 238
